If you are new to running, first, make sure to get clearance from your doctor or medical team. Then, remember it's about consistency. If you get out there and walk and run for 15 minutes a day three times a week, that's much better than going out for 30 minutes once a week. Start small and don't think you have to run 100% of the time. Just focus on getting time on feet consistently.
